3 things we did this year that made our writing more interesting

6T8A8112

What’s aerial yoga and wild swimming got to do with improving your writing? Inspiration.

It’s so easy to get stuck in a rut, with the same routine and the same frustrations.

Trust us when we say we’re all too familiar with writer's block, unable to think of what to write. It’s particularly frustrating when writing is what you do for a living. But hey, so is life.

Rather than stay stuck, we like to do a thing or two to break through the block and reignite our word mojo. Here are three things we’ve done this year that helped improve our writing, creativity, business and let’s be honest, life.

  • PLAY. We stepped away from the laptops to swing and swim.

Becca hung upside down at The Yoga Barn, learning aerial yoga, doing handstands and cocooning in a hammock. Getting out of your comfort zone to learn something new can help get you out of your head. In Becca’s case, it meant discovering a new thrill.

Meanwhile I went to new depths, embracing the power of the ocean in Devon and wild swimming in the dark lakes of the Lake District. The utter joy you can feel from even the simplest of pleasures and the sense of accomplishment when you achieve a feat you’ve been afraid of for so long does wonders to believing anything is possible.

  • PEOPLE: We learnt from the best.

Copywriting sessions with Laura Belgray and Tamsin Crimmens were juicy, giving us new confidence in our writing. The lesson here - pick your mentors wisely and learn everything you possibly can from them. When you do, it can change your life.

  • PURPOSE. We went on a spiritual journey

Back in January we were magnetically led to business and life coach Pandora Paloma and found ourselves handing over a huge investment (the biggest one we’ve ever made in ourselves) to  embark on a 12 month expansive coaching programme.

The journey’s taken us deep into ourselves and our business as we’ve explored ourselves, tackled old stories and limiting beliefs. It’s helped us to get clear on our values, our purpose and our power, allowing us to step into our power zone - our magnetism - with a clear vision.

Not only that, it also connected us with the most wonderful group of women who have become our sisterhood. There’s been tears, laughter, celebration and grief as we’ve shared the journey together. Women we hadn’t even met this time last year and yet now light up our lives every day. Connecting with like minded women is truly priceless.

Everything we’ve learned, everything we’re experiencing, we’re pouring it all into helping you. And when you work with us, you get so much more than words. You get us.

Friends, mentors and guides with all the juice on what works, what doesn’t and what we wished we’d known about life, business and motherhood all those years ago.

People, Purpose and Play are the foundations of our business and our mission is to help you fuse strategy with storytelling so you can achieve the life of your dreams.

If you want to turn things up a notch and get word inspired in 2022, book a free discovery to see if we’re the right fit to help move you, your business and your life in the right direction.

After all, life’s short, let’s make it magical.

Gabrielle Bernstein

I discovered Gabrielle Bernstein last summer, inhaling her book The Universe has got your back while on holiday in France. Since then I've literally read her entire repertoire. I can't get enough of her positivity and make picking an affirmation card the first task of my day.

Marie Forleo

I discovered Marie Forleo at the end of 2019 and devoured her book Everything is Figureoutable in a day. I love her New Jersey no nonsense approach to problem solving and how she's all about the fun. Because we all need more of that.

Mountains

Mountains, I love 'em. I love looking at them, hiking them and the endless possibilities they hold. Our favourite place to explore in the UK is the Lake District, whenever we have a spare weekend or day, we throw the tent in the car and head to the hills.
