From sourdough to kids takeovers in the kitchen, storytelling hooks for September

September is Sourdough month

The bread whose popularity soared during lockdown, a great hook if you’re a local baker or cafe who serves a mean sourdough sandwich.

What’s your sourdough story? Love it? Loathe it? Whether you make it at home or are an artisan baker it, it’s supposedly the healthiest bread on the block, a prebiotic, which helps to support the gut microbiome

Even better if it’s an organic sourdough - because it’s also Organic September a month-long campaign which aims to raise awareness of Organic products, and the brands, producers and farmers behind them, so a great hook if you’re in the business of organic food.

Alzheimer’s month

September is also Alzheimer's month, maybe it’s a cause close to your heart and you’ve been busy fundraising. Tell the story behind your fundraising, it will allow people to connect with you and to see the human side of your business.

6 September National Read a Book Day.

What book have you read lately? Everyone loves a good book recommendation? Pull out a quote or learning or share your favourite childhood book and why this made such an impact on you.

13 September, kids take over the kitchen day

A great behind the scenes photo opportunity as YCA are asking the adults to step aside and encourage their kids into the kitchen.

While this may sound like your worst nightmare, this aims to be a fun movement with its roots in a serious cause as budding Master Chefs learn about nutrition and healthy eating habits.

What’s  your go to healthy meal with your kids? Share your recipe. Share the mess, share the fun on social.

17 Sept The Great British Beach Clean

We’re sunshine girls, never happier on the beach so this is a week we’re all over getting involved in. A week-long citizen science event, where hundreds of beach cleans take place up and down the country, how can you show your support.

20 September, Recycle Week

Are you a business who’s passionate about sustainability and recycling? The theme of this year’s Recycle Week is Step It Up, how can you step it up to share your recycling efforts.

Most of us are already doing what we can to tackle climate change, through small but powerful habits – like recycling. It’s time to join the fight against climate change. Step It Up this Recycle Week.

Gabrielle Bernstein

I discovered Gabrielle Bernstein last summer, inhaling her book The Universe has got your back while on holiday in France. Since then I've literally read her entire repertoire. I can't get enough of her positivity and make picking an affirmation card the first task of my day.

Marie Forleo

I discovered Marie Forleo at the end of 2019 and devoured her book Everything is Figureoutable in a day. I love her New Jersey no nonsense approach to problem solving and how she's all about the fun. Because we all need more of that.

Mountains

Mountains, I love 'em. I love looking at them, hiking them and the endless possibilities they hold. Our favourite place to explore in the UK is the Lake District, whenever we have a spare weekend or day, we throw the tent in the car and head to the hills.
