How to batch like a pro

sisterhood outside

With spring officially in the air. We’re talking about batching, because it makes us think of hatching…

We know you feel like you’re drowning thinking about all of the content you have to produce? Because you’ve told us and we totally get it. You’ve probably heard the word batched. You know it’s something you should probably do. But we’re guessing you’re a bit overwhelmed about where to even start.

Like us, if you wear many hats, you need to batch your tasks. Think how easy batch cooking makes family mealtimes. Basically this means getting things done, with focussed attention all in one go. It stops too many tabs being open at once. Sounds good right.

One job. Once a month. Where can I sign up? We hear you say!

Here's our 9 steps to batching...

1) Invest in the right software to make life easier

We were introduced to Tailwind in 2020 and it’s been a game changer in actually batching social media. It’s intuitive. Easy to use and see your grid and it also gives you suggestions of what to post. Grab our referral code for 15% off.

2) Start with your diary (and intention)

Block out time when you’re going to do each task.  And don’t let anything get in the way. No emails and no scrolling.

3) An overarching plan

Your words and messaging should be aligned with your overarching business goals and aims. Have a simple year planner where you map out key dates and priorities and then approach your content quarterly or monthly depending on what works best for your business. Work backwards in terms of when you need to be teasing a programme for a November launch.

4) The content

This is where our Content Party comes into play. We take a client’s goals and objectives and then tease out the stories which will serve their audience. In a two hour session we aim to map out weekly newsletter content and themes which we then break down into individual posts.  You can book your Content Party here, we’ve limited spots left for spring.

5) Photos

Make life easy by looking at your content plan and thinking strategically about what images you need to go with the messaging. When you have a bank of quality images ready it makes life a whole lot easier. We tend to book a photoshoot each season and upload these images direct into Tailwind. Have a list of images you want to capture to help reinforce your messages and then tick off as you capture them on your shoot. We always create a pinterest board we share with our photographer.

6) Templates

Invest in a designer who can create a bank of Canva templates for you. Or if you’re inspired to have a go yourself there are plenty of pre designed templates to choose from. Simply recreate in your brand colours and fonts and then design them in one go. You can then drop them all into Tailwind ready to go.

7)Time to Schedule

The ideal is to get a whole month’s content written and then scheduled. If something comes up you want to share in a more timely way you can simply drop it in and move the planned post. The more you have scheduled, the more ahead you’ll want to be, as it’s very satisfying seeing everything set out and done.

8) Repurpose your content

Consistency is key and someone may have scrolled past the last time you talked about something. Our content planner is broken down into themes where we drop our content in so we can easily use themes and key messages again. Remember you can share the same message in a number of ways, eg a reel, carousel post, or as stories.

9) Don’t forget your website

You have a host of beautifully written content already on there which you can use as posts. For example when you’re next doing an intro post, revisit what you’ve already written on your about page.

Once you’re in a rhythm it gets even easier. We promise.

There’s nothing we love more than seeing emails land in our inbox from our Content Party clients who’ve finally found their flow. If you're ready to get in your flow you can find out more about our content parties and book your space here. There's limited spaces available for spring.

With love,

Gabrielle Bernstein

I discovered Gabrielle Bernstein last summer, inhaling her book The Universe has got your back while on holiday in France. Since then I've literally read her entire repertoire. I can't get enough of her positivity and make picking an affirmation card the first task of my day.

Marie Forleo

I discovered Marie Forleo at the end of 2019 and devoured her book Everything is Figureoutable in a day. I love her New Jersey no nonsense approach to problem solving and how she's all about the fun. Because we all need more of that.

Mountains

Mountains, I love 'em. I love looking at them, hiking them and the endless possibilities they hold. Our favourite place to explore in the UK is the Lake District, whenever we have a spare weekend or day, we throw the tent in the car and head to the hills.
