You've got just 3 seconds. Make them count.

We’re firm believers in the importance of first impressions, something we’re reminded of every morning as we shout after the kids tuck your shirt in, tie your laces….

First impressions + gut instinct = a big hell yeah!

First impressions count online too.

Probably even more so, because you can’t give a friendly smile to back up the I’ve having one of those mornings hence the kid smeared shirt.

Apparently in person you’ve got seven seconds to make a good first impression. But, as with tech speeding things up, on Instagram you’ve only got 3 secs.

Just 3 secs to stand out

So, if someone finds themselves on your feed, how can you get them to know, like and trust you in 3 secs so they follow or engage you?

So they become loyal clients, even friends.

When did you last check in with your bio?

When did you last check it’s got what we like to call the who, what, wow factor?

Don’t worry, we’ve pulled together a free guide to get your thoughts and words in order and inspire action in 150 characters.

*Download it here*

Tip 1: Remember the name line in your instagram profile is searchable - optimise this with searchable keywords so your kinda people can find you.

Tip 2: Don’t look at what other people are saying and copy that. Instead give them a little something, something about you, don’t be the same as everyone else.

Tip 3: What’s in it for them? Your profile should clearly state what you do and who you do it for. Let them know they’re in the right place and what goodness they’ll get from following you.

Tip 4: Call to action. Like every good piece of copy your bio needs to include a clear call to action. What should they do next? In a busy world you need to clearly direct people what to do next.

Gabrielle Bernstein

I discovered Gabrielle Bernstein last summer, inhaling her book The Universe has got your back while on holiday in France. Since then I've literally read her entire repertoire. I can't get enough of her positivity and make picking an affirmation card the first task of my day.

Marie Forleo

I discovered Marie Forleo at the end of 2019 and devoured her book Everything is Figureoutable in a day. I love her New Jersey no nonsense approach to problem solving and how she's all about the fun. Because we all need more of that.

Mountains

Mountains, I love 'em. I love looking at them, hiking them and the endless possibilities they hold. Our favourite place to explore in the UK is the Lake District, whenever we have a spare weekend or day, we throw the tent in the car and head to the hills.
